Almost 2 years have gone by since the birth of my baby, and I am starting to settle into my mommy role. Still battling with finding time to do things, but I am enjoying my little toddler very much. Not much time for hobbies these days, but thanks to Hubby helping out, I do occassionally get to make some jewelry, play some music, and I even made a quilt!

Mostly we're out and about doing something fun. I've gotten to know lots of other moms, and my little girl has made some good friends, too. She can say most of their names now, and is always glad to see them.

This winter, baby #2 will be arriving. This time it's a boy! I think Bel is excited about him coming. She hugs and kisses my belly, makes baby crying noises, and talks about baby drinking milk and playing. I'm nervous about handling two children, but I'm not the first whose done it, so I'm sure I'll manage .

I am finally a new mom! Wow, I couldn't imagine what it would be like to be a mommy. But after having a baby, it just happened. We have a full length mirror at the end of our hallway, and it took me a while to get used to seeing myself carrying a baby down the hall. Weird. But now, it feels so natural and normal. How quickly we adapt! I love being a mommy, I love my baby, and she is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life.

As expected, I haven't done much hobbies since the baby was born. She has kept me pretty busy. But I'm still hoping to do some music with her. I've played some guitar, piano, and flute for her. And of course she always likes singing. I haven't yet made her a "the quilt". I've purchased the fabric, and got a design in mind. Now, I just need to cut and sew....

Most of my recent shopping escapades have been buying things for baby. I've had to buy some post partum outfits for myself too because I'm not quite myself in size anymore. I still hope I'll get there, but we'll see. Haven't had much time to work out lately, either. But slowly I've been turning on My Fitness Coach when I have energy. Also, since the weather has been nice lately, I've been taking baby for walks.

I started a new Baby Blog to share and keep track of my experiences as a new mom. I hope you enjoy the articles. Maybe you can relate to them or just be mildy amused.

I wish could say I were fabulous, but I'm not. Ask anyone who knows me. I'm a homebody, a homemaker, and sometimes my husband likes to tease me and say I'm an "ugly scientist". I refuse to pay full price for most things, so I'm usually looking for bargains. Rarely do I buy designer things. But on occasion, I do splurge, but it’s usually because my husband is egging me on. I can't resist cashmere sweaters from BlueFly or Coach purses. My shoe collection, though overwhelming to him, is made up of mostly discount but comfortable shoes.

My hobbies are arts and crafts, music, and outdoors. I like sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, making jewelry, and painting. I also enjoy playing piano, guitar, flute, and singing, which I don't do as much as arts and crafts. I hope to do more musical things for the new baby, though . During the summer and fall, I like hiking, camping, and kayaking. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and there are so many beautiful places to go for outdoor activities.

My educational background is in science. I have a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, which I used only for the first few years out of college. After that, I meandered around various jobs until I found my place here as a homemaker, and soon to be stay-at-home mom. Sometimes you might notice the "ugly scientist" in me in the articles I write. And every once in a while, my husband catches me playing around with test tubes and graduated cylinders. But that's just when I'm making my bath and body products, like soap and perfume.

I put this web site together for my own resource of helpful things I've learned in my life. And also to share those learnings with others and show off some of the things I've made. They're simple, but I'm proud of them. I hope you enjoy this web site as well and find some useful or interesting information here.
