Make your own Rose Quartz Jewelry

I love rose quartz. It symbolizes love and romance. I wear it to remind myself of the one I love. And I wore it to attract the one I love (which seemed to have worked). It is a light pink, naturally occurring stone, and it's very beautiful. I buy ready-made rose quartz beads from Joann's Fabric and Crafts, Michael's, and Firemountaingems.com. You can also place rose quartz rocks near your bed to attract a romantic partner. You can buy these from many rock and gem web sites online.

Rose Quartz Necklaces

Leather String Necklaces

To make a rose quartz necklace, you can be as simple as buying a leather or rattail string (also found at the above craft and online places) and stringing it through the rose quartz bead.

Metal Hoop Necklaces

I have also purchased round metal hoop necklaces at Michael's and strung a rose quartz heart bead onto it along with other decorative beads. These are very stylish and look more dressy. Hearts are my favorite shape of rose quartz beads because they remind me the most of love.

Hemp Necklaces

If you like hemp jewelry, which I do, you can weave up a hemp necklace with rose quartz beads throughout or 1 large heart as the center pendant. This is how I made my first rose quartz jewelry. Hemp Bracelets Kit and Book can get you started easily on making hemp jewelry.

Chain Necklaces

These types of necklaces require a little extra work. You'll need a nice necklace-size chain, ranging from about 15 to 24 inches, depending on the length you prefer. You'll also need a lobster claw clasp, jump rings, and head pins. A flat nose and round nose pliers as well as a wire cutter are tools that make jewelry making so much easier. So you might want to get those if you don't already have them.

Steps:

Put a head pin through the rose quartz bead.
Using the pliers, shape the sharp end of the head pin into a circle and cut off the extra. This creates a pendant out of your bead.
Cut two jump rings in half, using a wire cutter
Attach each of the jump rings to each end of the chain, using the pliers to open the rings and then close them shut once attached to the chain.
Attach the lobster claw clasp to the jump ring on one end and it's joining piece to the other end.

And that's it. You have your rose quartz chain necklace! Once you learn the basics, you can get more creative and string chains in between beads to make a fancier pendant as I did in my necklace that I made below.

Rose Quartz Bracelets

Charm Bracelets

Making rose quartz bracelets is also very simple. Many craft stores carry thicker metal jewelry chains in silver or gold colors. Buy about 7-1/2 inches or so, depending on the size of your wrist. You'll also need to pick up some head pins and a toggle clasp. The toggle clasp can easily be attached to the chain by opening up the ring on the clasp with pliers, hooking it onto the chain, and closing the ring back up with the pliers. Then put the head pin through a rose quartz bead, and using flat nose or round-tip pliers, trim the head pin, bend it into a circle and slip it through the chain. Do this a few times around the chain, and you have yourself a rose quartz charm bracelet.

Beaded bracelets

Beaded bracelets take a little more work but can be very unique. Here are the instructions on how to make them:

Materials Needed:

Beadalon wire
various beads, including rose quartz beads, if you like. (I like to include metal spacers, Swarovski crystal, and pearl beads along with the rose quartz)
toggle or lobster claw clasp
crimp beads
jump rings
flat nose pliers

Steps:

Cut off a piece of Beadalon wire about twice as long as you would like the bracelet to be.
String one crimp bead onto it.
Then string the ring on the clasp onto the wire.
Leaving about 2 inches of wire on one end, string the end of the wire back into the crimp bead.
Cinch the wire so that the crimp bead is butted up against the ring on the clasp.
Crimp down on the crimp bead using the flat nose pliers.
Slide the various beads through the other end of the wire, catching the free 2 inch piece of the wire so that it doesn't show.
When all the pretty beads are strung on, string on a crimp bead at the end.
String on a jump ring (if using lobster claw) or the other end of the toggle clasp (if using toggle clasp).
Push the end of the wire back into the crimp bead and through a few of the decorative beads, in order to anchor the wire down.
Pull the wire tight to cinch the crimp bead against the clasp end or the jump ring, making sure the beads are all flush against each other.
Crimp down on the crimp bead using the flat nose pliers.
Finally, trim the extra wire sticking out of the middle area of the bracelet.

Rose Quartz Earrings

I think these earrings are one of the easiest pieces of jewelry to make!

Materials:

Steps:

Put a head pin through the beads in an arrangement you like.
Using the round nose pliers, shape the sharp end of the head pin into a circle.
Cut off the extra portion of the head pin using the wire cutter.
Hook the circle you created on the head pin to the circle on the earring hook.
